Chromecast not Connecting to Wifi

If you have troule like Chromecast won’t connect to wifi anymore, you can try this steps to fix Chromecast not Connecting to Wifi. Before it, you can try How to Factory Data Reset (FDR) or Reboot Your Chromecast.

Initial checklist

First, make sure:

  1. Chromecast is powered on and plugged into a wall outlet.
  2. The  LED light on the side of the Google Home device is white.
  3. You’re using the most recent version of the Google Home app from a supported iOS or Android device.
  4. The Chromecast device is within 15 – 20 ft of the mobile device or tablet you’re using to set it up.

General troubleshooting

If you’ve checked off all of the steps above and you still can’t connect to the Chromecast hotspot, try one of the steps below and then try to connect. If you still can’t connect, move to the next step.

1. Reboot Chromecast

  • Unplug the Chromecast device from the power source and plug it back in.

2. Force close and relaunch Google Home app 

  • From an IOS device
    1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You’ll see small previews of your recently used apps.
    2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
    3. Swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.
  • From an Android device
    1. Launch the Recent Applications menu to see small previews of your recently used apps.
      1. The Recent Apps button should be accessible at nearly any time along the bottom of the screen along with the other buttons on the virtual task bar.

3. Try to manually connecting to the Google Chromecast SSID from your phone or tablet’s Wi-Fi settings       

  • Go to the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device.
  • Open the list of available WiFi networks and look for an available network with the name “ChromecastXXXX (where XXXX is a random number).
    1. Note: If you previously set up your device and have not factory reset it (FDR) since it got kicked off of the network,  look for the name of the Chromecast device that you assigned to it in the list of available networks on your mobile device.
    2. If you can successfully connect to the Chromecast SSID in your WiFi settings,  open the Google Home app and try setting up the device.

Advanced Troubleshooting​

If you’re still unable to connect, try the following, try setting up Chromecast from another supported iOS or Android device.
